As of January 1, 2020, the purchase of adult-use (recreational) cannabis is legal in the state of Illinois.

If you are not an Illinois registered medical cannabis patient, you must be 21 years of age or older to enter the dispensary and purchase cannabis.

Additionally, you must show a valid government issued I.D. Acceptable I.D.’s include a driver’s license, state I.D., military I.D. or U.S. passport.

As of January 1, 2020, purchase limits are as follows:

If you are an Illinois resident:

30 grams of cannabis flower
500 milligrams of THC in a cannabis-infused product
5 grams of cannabis concentrate

If you are a non-resident:

15 grams of cannabis flower
250 milligrams of THC in a cannabis-infused product
2.5 grams of cannabis concentrate

Cannabis MUST be stored in a safe location out of the reach of the vehicle operator, in a “reasonably secured, sealed container and reasonably inaccessible while the vehicle is moving.”
